The Softies Cover Lisa Prank for F/D Fifteen Series, F/D Fifteen Album Out Now

In 2010, Father/Daughter Records was born out of a simple idea that independent music thrives when artists are given space to take risks, experiment, and build community. To mark its 15th anniversary, the label invited current artists and longtime alumni to draw from the catalog and recast the songs in their own light. F/D Fifteen is a project that doubles as a love letter to the label’s past and future.

For the closing chapter of Father/Daughter's 15th anniversary covers series, The Softies take on Lisa Prank’s “Turn It Up,” peeling back its bright pop-punk veneer to reveal a quieter, intimate anthem. Where the original burned with nervous energy and late-night resolve, The Softies move at half-speed, letting the song breathe until it feels like it’s floating, their harmonies lending the track a wistful tenderness. In their hands, “Turn It Up” becomes a soft exhale, a love letter to resilience, and a fitting final note for the F/D Fifteen series.

"'Turn it Up' was the first song I ever heard by Lisa Prank. I was bowled over by the profound wisdom in “if you’re sad you’re listening to the wrong song”, perfectly articulating my own deeply held belief that music is the most potentially transformative force for happiness. Finally covering the song felt like a full circle acknowledgment of my deep friendship with Robin Edwards, one of the most beautiful musical connections I’ve known."

- Rose Melberg, The Softies

"I cried when I heard this cover! The Softies are one of my favorite bands and some of my dearest friends, so it’s hard to fully explain how much it means to me that they covered my song so incredibly beautifully. I wish I could whisper this information into the ears of a younger version of myself and blow her mind.”
