nothing or something to die for (Cantonese tasting menu) is a selection of songs from mui zyu’s sophomore album reworked and recorded in Cantonese. mui zyu wanted to put this collection together as an ode to her memories listening to classic Cantonese pop music (by artists including Anita Mui, Faye Wong and Beyond) with her mum and dad growing up.
The translations were a labor of love and the result of hours of phone calls with her father in Hong Kong, plus additional poetic guidance from British/Hong Kong artist lei,e (Emma Lee Moss, formerly Emmy The Great) who also sings on ‘斯帕克’.
