In 2010, Father/Daughter Records was born out of a simple idea that independent music thrives when artists are given space to take risks, experiment, and build community. To mark its 15th anniversary, the label invited current artists and longtime alumni to draw from the catalog and recast the songs in their own light. F/D Fifteen is a project that doubles as a love letter to the label’s past and future.
For the fifth installment, Seattle's Lisa Prank reimagines Happy Diving’s 2014 track “Sad Planet.” The original barreled forward with a punchy pop-punk urgency, Lisa Prank slows it down just enough to reveal its melodic core, turning its raw energy into something mischievously tender. The guitars are still jagged, the vocals pointed, but there’s a sly sway to the arrangement, a kind of nostalgic wink you might even hear at a high school dance.
"Sad Planet" follows mui zyu's cover of Shamir, Anna McClellan's retake of Esther Rose, Anjimile's rendition of Pickle Darling, and Pure Bathing Culture's magical take of The Softies. The next F/D Fifteen song arrives November 27th.
